The Blackcaps will begin their next World Test Championship campaign with a spin-heavy squad to visit Bangladesh later this month.

A newlook coaching line-up, led by Luke Ronchi, will feature specialist spinners Ajaz Patel and Ish Sodhi, alongside spin-allrounders Mitch Santner, Rachin Ravindra and Glenn Phillips.

Kyle Jamieson will continue his comeback from injury in a three-prong pace attack that includes captain Tim Southee and Matt Henry, who is recovering from a hamstring tear that forced him out of the World Cup.

Batters Tom Blundell and Henry Nicholls will join the squad from outside the one-day roster.

"We've selected a squad we think can compete and succeed in Bangladesh," said new selector Sam Wells. "With Ajaz, Ish, Mitch, Glenn and Rachin, we have a strong spin group that will offer us good variety and options during the series.

"Mitch had a strong back half of the Plunket Shield campaign last summer and has made good strides in his red-ball bowling. He brings a wealth of experience in subcontinent conditions and adds depth to the batting line-up as a genuine allrounder.

"Rachin brings a left-arm orthodox option and has improved considerably over the past 18 months with the ball - and his performances with the bat at the World Cup speak for themselves.

"It's great to be able to call upon the services of Kyle again, after a period out of the team, and he will bring a different dimension to the pace group with his ability to move the ball."

Notable absentees include unavailable pace bowler Trent Boult and spin-allrounder Michael Bracewell, still recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Ronchi will be assisted by former Blackcaps Daryl Flynn and Jacob Oram, along with former Pakistan international Saqlain Mushtaq, with head coach Gary Stead returning to New Zealand after the World Cup.

The first test is scheduled for November 28-December 2 at Sylhet, with the second from December 6-10 at Dhaka.
