The Black Sticks men have booked a place at this year's Paris Olympics, with a third-place finish at the qualifying tournament in Oman.

The Kiwis fought back to beat Pakistan 3-2 in the third-place playoff,  with the top three teams from the tournament qualified for Paris.

Beaten by Great Britain in the semi-finals, New Zealand fell behind early and trailed 2-1 at halftime, with Scott Boyde converting from a penalty corner for their lone goal.

The Black Sticks came home strong, with Hugo Inglis and Boyde scoring from the field in the last 10 minutes to secure victory.

Paris will be the sixth straight games the men have contested. New Zealand won gold in men's hockey at Montreal 1976.

The Black Sticks women have failed to qualify for the Olympics.
