Netball: Former Silver Ferns captain Gina Crampton's next move confirmed, signs with Giants in Australian Super Netball as training partner

Former Silver Ferns captain Gina Crampton has signed with the Sydney-based Giants in Australia's Super Netball series.

Crampton, 32, is currently on a break from New Zealand netball and was living in New York with partner Fa'asiu Fuatai, who played in Major League Rugby, until his side folded late last year.

The midcourter is out of Silver Ferns contention this year, with her break ruling her out of the ANZ Premiership. The Giants have confirmed Crampton as one of four new training partners for the side, after she relocated to Sydney.

"Adding someone like Gina into our environment is a huge boost," said Giants coach Julie Fitzgerald.

"To have someone of her calibre and experience on the court for our midcourt to train against on a weekly basis will only have our squad better placed for the talent they are set to come up against this season."

Crampton actively pursued the opportunity by reaching out to the Giants after her move, but her deal is only as a training partner and will almost certainly mean she won't play in Super Netball, barring injury to other Giants midcourters.

Joining the Giants will reunite Crampton with former international teammate Sam Winders, who signed at the end of 2023.
