Golf: Kiwi rookie Kazuma Kobori in rare company with dream start to professional career

Rookie professional Kazuma Kobori can lay claim to being the hottest golfer on the planet right now.

The North Canterbury pro has won three events in his last four starts, which puts him in an exclusive club whose only other member is golfingTiger Woods, and his latest win across the Tasman has all but secured his European card for next season.

Taking it easy a day after another title, as far as rookies go, Kabori is on a trajectory for greatness, with a start to pro life few can only dream of.

His latest win in the Webex Players Series at Sydney was his third in four starts.

"It's something you hope for, something I know could be done, but definitely very fortunate to have played this way so far," Kobori told Newshub.

He's fortunate that it's paid off, after turning down qualifying events for bigger tours.

Safely inside the PGA Tour of Australasia top three, Kobori has virtually secured his card in Europe.

"It was a bit of a gamble, but I decided to commit to this tour and I'm very happy to have stuck to that decision."

What makes his sensational run even more special is Wood's presence as the only other golfer to win three events in their first 10 professional starts.

"I'm very happy to be in the same conversation as him," said Kobori, who also hopes to become a legend of the game one day.
