Rugby Sevens: All Blacks Sevens join Black Ferns Sevens in Vancouver semi-finals after scare against Fiji

Both New Zealand sevens sides are in the mix at the Vancouver leg of the World Series, as the All Blacks Sevens and Black Ferns Sevens booked respective semi-final spots.

After the Black Ferns Sevens reached the last four of their competition with a 36-0 victory over Spain, the All Blacks Sevens had a tougher task, but progressed courtesy of a 21-19 win over Fiji.

Despite an opening try to Akuila Rokolisoa, Fiji hit the lead in the first half as scores to Pilipo Bukarayo and Rereropate gave the Olympic champions a 12-7 advantage at the break.

However, second-half efforts to Joe Weber and Sam Dickson saw New Zealand retake the lead, and survive a late scare to close out victory.

The All Blacks Sevens will meet France in their cup semi-final, with the winner to face the winner of USA and Argentina to take the trophy.

Facing France will see New Zealand up against Antoine Dupont, who has switched from 15-a-side to sevens to lead his country at this year's Paris Olympics, and have the chance to win gold at home.

Meanwhile the Black Ferns Sevens will face Canada in their semi-final, and hope to book a place against one of France and Australia to win the women's tournament.
