Mark Zuckerberg's fortune has dropped over US$100 billion in the past 13 months, as his company's shares dive following dismal quarterly earnings.

Zuckerberg is known for co-founding the social media website Facebook and its parent company Meta Platforms. However his net worth fell US$11 billion on Thursday (local time) as shares in the company plummeted.

He now has a net worth of US$38.1 billion, down from US$142 billion in September 2021, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Meta's CEO, who holds over 350 million shares in the company, has seen the single-biggest hit among those on the wealth list, according to Bloomberg.

There was a time when Zuckerberg was the third richest person in the world, but as of the time of publication, Forbes estimates he is now 29th.

The plunge comes after Meta's revenue recorded a second consecutive quarterly drop, down 4.5 percent overall, after never posting declining sales prior to 2022.

Earlier this year, Meta shares fell 26 percent.
