Major banks including ASB and Kiwibank are suffering from website and app outages.
A statement on ASB's Facebook account said some internet service providers were encountering issues.
"This means some of our customers will have issues accessing FastNet Classic and ASB mobile. Thanks for your patience, and we apologise for any inconvenience."
Kiwibank was also having issues.
"We're currently experiencing an issue for some customers when trying to access our app or internet banking," it said. "Our teams are looking into this at the moment and we hope to have this resolved soon."
The outages were met with frustration by some customers.
"I hope it gets resolved by tonight. I need to pay my rent!" wrote one Twitter user.
