The layer of fog that has been causing delays and cancellations at Auckland Airport since Tuesday morning has lifted.

Fog restrictions were put in place at 9:15am.

Twenty eight domestic flights and one international departure were cancelled. A further thirty four domestic flights were delayed.

The fog also forced an inbound flight from Tokya to be diverted to Ohakea Airport and another from Hong Kong was sent to Christchurch.

The airport has advised passengers to keep in touch with their airline to check if their flight has been affected.
