The sneaky predator was so discreet even photographer, Ingo Gerlach, nearly missed it as he made his way back to camp in the Masai Mara, Kenya. Blending almost seamlessly into the background the leopard remained perfectly still, as Ingo captured the rare moment on camera. The sneaky predatorial nature of a leopard can make them hard to spot at the best of times, but this particular one was so discreet even travelling photographer, Ingo Gerlach, nearly missed it as he made his way back to camp in the Masai Mara, Kenya.

The experienced photographer spent 10 minutes searching for the male leopard after being tipped off by his guide during the drive home.

Blending almost seamlessly into the background, the leopard remained perfectly still as Ingo captured the rare moment on camera.

"The sun had already disappeared behind the horizon and it was early evening when the driver suddenly stopped the vehicle and murmured 'Chui', which means leopard in Swahili," Mr Gerlach said.

"I stood and stared for a good 10 minutes but couldn't find anything. The driver tried to explain the position of the leopard to me, and with great effort I finally spotted it."

It was a game of eye-spy that probably saved his life.
