A photographer has captured the hilarious moment a monkey set out to feature in as many photos as possible by sticking its head in the camera lens.

The Golden Lion Tamarin monkey is a resident at Marwell Zoo in the UK city of Winchester.

"While on a day out at the zoo I walked away from the camera and the Tamarins came over to investigate, climbing onto and over the camera as well as looking down the lens," Mr Herbert said.

"My favourite is the one with the Tamarin looking down the camera - it was comical."

In 2011, a rare crested black macaque monkey named Naruto snapped an iconic selfie of itself in Indonesia, leading to a copyright battle and it being named PETA's 'Person of the Year'.
