'Nazi warplane' bursts into flames as it crashes into busy LA freeway

A vintage World War II aircraft burst into flames as it crashed into a Los Angeles freeway on Tuesday afternoon (local time), but amazingly no one was injured.

The vintage German aircraft from nearby Van Nuys Airport landed directly on the median barrier of the 101 Freeway in Agoura Hills.

Video from the scene showed smoke and flames billowing hundreds of metres into the air.

Despite the freeway being busy at the time, no cars were hit when the plane came down.

The pilot reportedly walked away unharmed.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
