Survey reveals Kiwi seniors are the world's most adventurous

New Zealand seniors are the most adventurous in the world, according to research done by travel and accommodation website Airbnb.

The research is in line with global trends that show seniors are travelling more globally, with the 65+ demographic the fastest growing for Airbnb. 

Behind New Zealand at the top of the list was Australia, Demark, the US and Canada.

The fastest growing places for seniors to visit in New Zealand are Kaikoura, Lake Tekapo, Richmond and Hanmer Springs.

Currently, 6900 seniors in New Zealand are hosts on Airbnb, and they collectively earned more than $45 million last year.

In 2017, they hosted over 300,000 guests and traveller reviews have placed them amongst the most loved hosts in the world - more than 89 percent of reviews awarded five stars.

Globally, there are 400,000 senior hosts on Airbnb and together they earned over $3 billion last year.
