Air New Zealand's takes delivery of its first Airbus A321neo

Air NZ's latest aircraft, the Airbus A320neo (new engine option), is due to touch down in Auckland on Monday evening.

Due to being a shorter range aircraft, the delivery flight from Hamburg has had to make stopovers in Muscat, Singapore and Cairns.

The new aircraft has the registration ZK-NAA and is the first of 13 new Airbus neos set to join the fleet over the next six years. The airline has ordered seven A321neos and six of the smaller A320neos.

ZK-NNA is expected to carry out its first commercial flight on November 23, between Auckland and Brisbane.

The 13 new aircraft will gradually replace Air NZ's current fleet of A320s that operate across the Tasman and to the Pacific Islands.

Last month, Newshub was given exclusive access inside the new aircraft before it left the factory.
