Hal Vaughan could quite possibly be the world's best dad after he bought flights to spend Christmas with his flight attendant daughter who was working on the day.

The US dad was so determined to see his daughter Pierce he bought multiple Delta Airline flights so he could spend the special day with her while she worked.

The heartwarming story came to light after fellow passenger Mike Levy posted about it on Facebook.

"I had the pleasure of sitting next to Hal on my flight back home. His daughter Pierce was our flight attendant who had to work over Christmas," the post read.

"Hal decided he would spend the holiday with her. So, he is flying on each of her flights today and tomorrow around the country to spend time with his daughter for Christmas. What a fantastic father! Wish you both a very Merry Christmas!"

The post has gone viral, being shared more than 30,000 times and garnering tens of thousands of likes.

Pierce Vaughan later shared Mr Levy's viral post: "Dad's first trip using his benefits was a success! A special thanks to all of the patient, wonderful gate agents around the country and my perfect crew. He made it on every flight and even got first class (Christmas miracle)."

Delta told CNN in a statement they appreciate their employees who work over the holiday period.

"And [we] love seeing this awesome Dad having the chance to spend Christmas with his daughter - even while crisscrossing the country at 30,000 feet."
