A British frequent flyer has revealed the two words she's used to score herself hundreds of free first class upgrades.
"Revenue management".
Tilly Bagshawe says she annually usually flies around 100,000 miles (161,000km) - and using the magic two words gets her bumped up from economy class, all without paying a cent.
She reckons putting in a phone call to your airline's reservations desk before you travel and using the two words has given her "pretty much a 100 percent success rate" in getting free upgrades.
"Revenue management's job is to make sure a flight is profitable, so they're the ones telling [reservation agents] what they can say," Bagshawe told Bloomberg.
"Say to the agent: 'Have revenue management released any first class seats for miles upgrades yet?'
"When they say no, ask them to check or just be put through to revenue management so you can ask when they will release some, as well as how many seats are left.
"Often by the end of the conversation they say, 'OK, we'll release one for you.'."
