It would have been an expensive visit to the panel beaters for Emirates of Dubai last week after one of its A380s was damaged when its front nose gear collapsed while being serviced.

Aviation bloggers have reported the nose gear was retracted without its support framing in place, meaning nothing was holding the front of the aircraft off the ground.

A photo posted online anonymously shows the damage to the aircraft, revealing the nose cone which appears to have completely fallen off.

The aircraft in the photo is believed to have last flown on August 20 between Bangkok and Dubai, and is frequently used on the airline's Birmingham and Manchester routes.

No one was injured in the incident, although its likely someone was given a rather stern talking to.
