Singapore Airlines to fly Airbus A350-900 on Wellington route

Travellers and aviation enthusiasts in Wellington, get ready for an upgrade. The world's most technologically advanced aircraft, the Airbus A350-900 will begin flying to the capital city in November.

Singapore Airlines, which operates flights between Wellington and Singapore via Melbourne, confirmed the arrival of the new aircraft this morning, following a certification process by Airbus.

The airline will be the first to operate the new aircraft into Wellington.

The Airbus A350-900 has higher ceilings, larger windows, lighting designed to reduce jet lag, and is wider than airlines of a similar size.

Last month Singapore Airlines announced it will be increasing flights between Wellington and Singapore to five times a week from January 2020.

The airline originally began flying to Wellington via Canberra in 2016, before altering the route to stop-off in Melbourne.

The first A350-900 flight will arrive in Wellington just after 1pm on 1 November.

The return flight to Singapore will take-off just over an hour later.
