It's a place often featured in photos of the rich and famous. Popular parks and running tracks such as Runyon Canyon are frequently the backdrop for images of Hollywood celebrities out walking their dogs.

But this walk of fame experience is no longer just for the famous.

A Company called Original Rescue Dog Hike offers a service that works for both the humans and the dogs, with the puppies getting just as much excitement and exercice out of the experience as the person doing the jogging.

Photos taken of the dogs with their human friends are then shared to help bring attention to the problem of abandoned dogs, as well as open up the opportunity for possible adoption for the puppy.

The experience costs NZ$45, with all profits going towards animal welfare non-profit charities.

Dog loving travellers to Los Angeles should also keep an eye out for the team of friendly puppies patrolling LAX.  These ones aren't there to sniff out drugs, they're there to find and comfort anyone experiencing nerves or anxiety before they get on their flight.

If you're travelling with your dog then it's worth checking out Loews Hollywood Hotel.

The hotel caters for four legged guests offering pet-room service, toys and comfortable beds. You can either base yourself there between your walks around Los Angeles, or leave you dog at the hotel for a few hours should you need to visit somewhere that only caters for two legged species.
