Southwest Airlines flight evacuated due to burst tyre at Chicago Midway Airport

A Southwest Airlines flight has been evacuated just moments post-landing, after a hydraulic issue with its landing gear as well as a burst tyre.

Flight 4448, flying from Austin, Texas, landed in Chicago on Monday just after 8am (local time) and taxied off the runway before coming to a stop. Emergency services then approached the aircraft.

The wheels on at least one set of landing gear had visibly deflated.

Stairs were used to evacuate the 137 passengers and five crew members onboard the Boeing 737 aircraft.

Fire department crews and several ambulances were dispatched as a precaution, but no injuries were reported.

Flights were delayed for a period of time as the runway was checked for debris.

The aircraft is currently being checked by engineers.
