Coronavirus: US border authorities increase carry-on liquid limits to accommodate sanitisers

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in the US has increased the amount of liquid allowed to be carried by passengers to allow for larger hand sanitiser bottles.

The usual limit for any liquids, aerosols or gels is 3.4 ounces (100mL), but the new hand sanitiser allowance will be more than triple that to 12 ounces (354mL).

The TSA said the larger hand sanitiser bottles will be subject to separate screening, so passengers should expect delays if they want to take them onboard.

All other liquids are still subject to the standard 100mL limit.

It's not known if the change will be implemented in Aotearoa - the Aviation Security Service has been contacted for comment.
