'Unwell' Emirates cabin crew member in Auckland hospital after Dubai flight

An Emirates cabin crew member has been hospitalised after falling ill during a flight from Dubai to Auckland on Friday.

The staff member was working on flight EK448, which touched down at Auckland Airport at about 10:30am.

Upon arrival, medical staff came on board and carried out a health assessment, an Auckland Airport spokesperson told Newshub.

They confirmed the staffer had been feeling unwell on the flight.

The crew member has now been taken to Middlemore Hospital for further assessment by St Johns ambulance crew.

Passengers were told they could disembark as normal.

Statement from Emirates spokesperson

"We cannot discuss any employee or customer details.

"As part of our normal procedures, even outside of coronavirus outbreak, crew who are ill must report sick and they don’t operate.

"Any positive cases of COVID-19 are managed by the relevant authorities of the jurisdiction and we co-operate with them."
