Jetstar has cancelled all domestic flights across the country due to the COVID-19 restriction.

The low-cost airline announced the temporary suspension of flights from August 18 until "at least' the end of Wednesday August 26, in a statement on Friday.

This comes after Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said Auckland will be put under level 3 restrictions and the rest of the country on level 2 until Wednesday August 26.

Customers with Jetstar bookings would be contacted directly and were offered an alternative flight on or before Tuesday, cancel their travel or request a credit voucher.

Air New Zealand has continued their domestic flights but says travel is restricted in and out of Auckland.

"At alert level 3, travelling is highly limited and only essential workers are permitted to travel between regions," the Air New Zealand website said.
