COVID-19: Trans-Tasman bubble pending - but what about insurance?

An announcement regarding the trans-Tasman air bridge is expected on April 6, but for prospective travellers, a big question mark is floating over the topic of insurance.

Although certain policies can provide cover for a number of incidents related to COVID-19, insurance will not cover a border lockdown - meaning for Kiwis heading across the ditch, a sudden lockdown back in New Zealand could prove problematic.

Speaking to The AM Show on Wednesday, Flight Centre managing director David Coombes addressed some common questions related to insurance amid an ongoing pandemic.

His main piece of advice? Some policies do provide cover for COVID-related incidents - but some don't. So if in doubt, speak to your insurance provider about getting the right policy for you.
