Some people can't do without them, others think they are a waste of time and space.

Travel pillows were a regular sight in the air pre-COVID-19 pandemic, but with borders closed and international air travel not returning just yet, these often overpriced accessories have made their way to the backs of closets and drawers in bedrooms around the world.

But some people have kept them close by, pivoting their use slightly so they're just as handy on the ground as they were in the air.

A popular post on Reddit has revealed how one former traveller now uses his pillow to painlessly lay on his side in bed with headphones on.

The donut-like hollowed out centre of the pillow acts as a space for bulky headphones to sit without uncomfortably pushing into the listener's head.

The tip has been shared thousands of times and has been described as being "actually genius" by a commenter, while another reply claimed the post "just changed my life."

The technique can also be used in the air if you're lucky enough to get a flat bed, or an entire row to yourself.
