Discount airline Jetstar has kept to its word following a Facebook post promising to introduce a limited amount of trans-Tasman sale airfares if the post attracted a certain number of likes.
"If this post gets 1000 likes we'll bring back Return for Free, if we get to 5000 likes we'll include some flights to Aus too," the post said. "Do your thing."
While the post was always going to achieve the goal of 5000 likes, the airline released a limited number of 'Return for Free' airfares starting as low as $39, including the free return.
The sale fares will only be available between 12pm and 4pm on Friday, May 14.
Newshub has obtained a sneak peek at some of the airfares going on sale. All include a free return flight:
- Auckland to Christchurch from $49
- Auckland to Dunedin from $69
- Christchurch to Wellington from $39
- Auckland to Gold Coast (Coolangatta) from $202
- Christchurch to Gold Coast (Coolangatta) from $201
- Wellington to Gold Coast (Coolangatta) from $179
- Queenstown to Gold Coast (Coolangatta) from $228
Travel dates vary per route but include early August to mid-September 2021 and early to late February 2022, and the airfares are available from the airline's website.
