Since COVID-19 landed on New Zealand's shores in 2020, most of our holidays have taken place in our imaginations.

Now Wellington Airport is asking people to share drawings of their dream holidays to win free flights in a competition.

It's open to all ages and offers a prize of $1000 in flight vouchers for both the adults and children categories.

"We know lockdown is a challenging time for people, particularly those with young children to entertain," says Wellington Airport's general manager of corporate affairs, Jenna Raeburn.

"Drawing is a great boredom buster and with an adults and kids' category, the whole family can get involved.

"Since the last lockdown, New Zealanders have been embracing travel in their own country and exploring all our beautiful country has to offer. We hope this competition reminds New Zealanders how lucky we are to live where we do, with the bonus that their dream can be realised when life gets back to normality."

The top 20 photos from each category will be put to a people's vote on Wellington Airport's Facebook page.

To enter, just take a photo or scan your drawing and send it to  competition@wellingtonairport.co.nz with your name, age and contact details.
