The TranzAlpine train service from Greymouth to Christchurch has been stuck in Springfield this evening due to poor weather conditions.

A spokesperson for KiwiRail told Newshub a tree had come down on the tracks just after 6:40pm.

The tree was expected to be cleared from the track just after 9pm, allowing the TranzAlpine train to complete its journey to Christchurch.
