Fiji Airways launches Nadi-Vancouver direct service

Fiji Airways has launched a twice-weekly direct service between Nadi and Vancouver which it is inviting New Zealanders to use as a new way to get to North America. The route was launched over the weekend, shortly after Air Canada restarted its Auckland-Vancouver non-stop service which it halted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Fiji Airways offers Auckland-Nadi flights every day as well as up to twice weekly direct flights from Wellington and up to three weekly flights from Christchurch. The airline now also operates Nadi-Vancouver flights, departing every Monday and Friday. "We can now connect Kiwis to Canada for the holiday season and invite them to warm up in tropical Fiji with a convenient stopover holiday before returning to New Zealand well rested and relaxed," said Fiji Airways CEO Andre Viljoen. "In the lead up to the launch of the flights, more and more Kiwis have been showing an interest in the new service, indicating that there is demand which Fiji Airways can tap into. "As we continue to expand our network and launch new routes, we are creating more and more pathways for Kiwis to access popular travel destinations, cementing Fiji as a convenient connection or stopover destination to further afield." The inaugural Fiji Airways Nadi-Vancouver service departed on the evening of Friday November 25 and touched down in Vancouver shortly after 1pm (local time) on the same day. The standard flight time on the route is 11 hours and five minutes. Air New Zealand also offers daily flights between Aotearoa and Fiji, as well as a direct service between Auckland and Vancouver.
