A bomb threat on a Japanese Jetstar flight has prompted an emergency landing.

Witnesses have posted footage of passengers evacuating the flight on emergency slides.

Japanese broadcaster NHK reported the airline received a call that a man had placed a bomb on the flight.

The outlet said no explosives have been found on board so far and at least one person was injured, however, it is unknown how they were injured.

A Jetstar Japan spokesperson said the flight travelling from Tokyo (Narita) to Fukuoka diverted to Chubu Airport, landing normally at 7:41am (local time) after a "potential security incident".

Passengers used the emergency slides to exit the plane out of an abundance of caution, the spokesperson said.

"We know this would have been distressing for passengers and thank them for their cooperation," Jetstar Japan said.

"Our teams are supporting them and working to get them on their way as quickly as possible."

Jetstar Japan is also working closely with Chubu Airport and local authorities to investigate the situation.
