Electronic door briefly jams shut at Auckland International Airport arrivals terminal

International arrivals at Auckland Airport were briefly unable to get into the main terminal after the electronic doors stopped working.

At around 11:30am on Wednesday, the automatic door into the public arrivals area from biosecurity processing was damaged after being knocked off its rails by an exiting passenger, an Auckland Airport spokesperson said.

"The door wasn't able to function for a few minutes, before being reopened by the Auckland Airport team." the spokesperson said.

Visitor Kamal Kamboj said the airport crew struggled to open the doors and claimed it took a period of 20 minutes before the door was open again.

The airport has since apologized for the inconvenience.

"We apologize to anyone who was impacted by this and experienced a delay to their journey."

The door has now been fixed and use of the accessway has resumed.
