A Jetstar traveller's angry rant about having to pay $5 to borrow a pen is going viral online.

In his TikTok tirade, Australian travel influencer Douglas Lazickirk questioned why a flight attendant wouldn't let him borrow the item instead of paying for one.

Lazickirk, who was on a flight bound for South Korea, claimed the flight attendant told him she didn't "have to give you my pen" and instead had to buy one for AU$5 (NZ$5.35) or wait until he landed in Seoul.

"I've caught more than 1000 flights in my life I've never been denied a pen," he told Yahoo News Australia.

Commenters on Lazickirk's TikTok post were largely supportive of his point of view.

"Never purchase anything on flights," one said.

"Thanks for the heads up," another wrote.

"Omg, I'd be speaking to the boss," said a third.

"Shocked more about the pen," a fourth fumed. "How rude of the staffer."

Others, however, questioned why a seasoned traveller wasn't more prepared.

"Why don’t you just travel with your own pen? If you're a big traveller you would know that you're going to need a pen for your documentation," one commented, to which Lazickirk replied: "It's the principle."

NCA Newswire said it has approached Jetstar for a response.
