A baby tiger has been born at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast – the first in seven years.

The unnamed male was born on Saturday to mum Nika, who was brought to Dreamworld in 2013 to join its breeding programme, the Courier Mail reports.

The announcement of his birth was timed to coincide with Global Tiger Day today.

He marks the fourth litter of cubs born at Dreamworld since its Tiger Island opened 20 years ago.
