Hollywood veteran Tom Selleck has been accused of stealing water.
California is in the grip of a four year drought and authorities say Selleck has filled a tanker truck a dozen times to water avocados on his 24-hectare ranch.
The Magnum, P.I. star and his wife Jillie are both named in the complaint, which claims the couple is not allowed to use water from a hydrant in Thousand Oaks because the mansion does not fall within its service area, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Californians have been outing those squandering the state's limited water resources.
Authorities are seeking legal fees and costs from Selleck as well as an injunction permanently barring him from taking water from the hydrant
