Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia have again delayed flights into Bali after another major volcanic eruption at Mount Raung.

The airlines pushed back their departure times to reassess flying conditions, but Jetstar has still given its planes the green light to fly.

Meanwhile there's relief from some lucky passengers, who landed this morning on board the first Air New Zealand flight out of Bali since the ash cloud delay.

Passenger Debbie Jones called the trip 'sooty'.

"It was very iffy up on the mountains, everything was sooty black, on the table tops [and were] staff wiping things everywhere," she says.

An Air New Zealand flight due to leave for Bali this afternoon has been delayed, but the airline says it's possible it could depart tomorrow.
