Pacific leaders have failed to act on two of the major issues they were hoping to agree on at the Pacific Islands Forum.
New Zealand refused to increase its commitment to combat climate change or to take a tough stance on human rights abuses in West Papua.
But from Port Moresby, New Zealand found other ways to appease its Pacific neighbours.
