Photos: The wildlife wonders of Britain

Urban wildlife winner: London starling gang, Tomas Brangwyn

This year's best British wildlife photos have been announced and they show animals in ways they've never been seen before.

There were thousands of entries in the sixteen categories with the overall winner a vertigo-inducing photo of a northern gannet colony in Scotland.

Other highly commended entries include a grey seal turned brown in a Scotland sandstorm, a wood mouse silhouetted by the bright London lights and a gang of starlings in a London carpark.

The winners of the British Wildlife Photography Awards have and the commended images have their work showcased in a touring exhibition.
