Australian man survives 6 days in outback

A grandfather has spent the night in hospital recovering after six days lost in the scorching West Australian outback.

Reginald Foggerdy was found yesterday, about 170kms east of Laverton.

Barely alive, Mr Foggerdy was so dehydrated and delirious it took him 20 minutes to be able to talk to his rescuers.

He'd been lost in Western Australia's unforgiving outback for 140 hours.

His family waited for any news and feared the worst, but now he's recovering in hospital after having survived with only the shirt on his back.

Search and rescue teams never gave up, finally getting a breakthrough when they found footprints on Monday.
