A pod of orcas have proved a 'whaley' great sight for sore eyes in British Colombia, swimming into the shallow waters of a riverbed and scratching their bellies on the pebbles.

According to the Daily Mail, a group of eight whales made their way up Powell River astonishing onlookers who stood merely metres away.

The orcas, which appear to splash and play, look entirely at peace during the incredible moment, and one local business owner, Gary Slootweg, captured some of the show on camera.

In the background of the footage, other onlookers can be heard expressing their fascination with one man stating he can "start deleting all of my baby pictures now, don’t need pictures of my son anymore".
