Extended interview: NZDF Sergeant David Duncan on his gallantry award

New Zealand Defence Force Sergeant David Duncan has been awarded a New Zealand Gallantry Decoration for the bravery he showed during the Battle of Baghak in Afghanistan in August 2012.

Sgt Duncan ran 20 metres through heavy enemy fire to save a wounded comrade – before suffering a gunshot to the leg and eventually needing to be saved himself.

He spoke with 3 News reporter Jenna Lynch about his time in Afghanistan and whether we should be concerned about the troops in Iraq facing the same fate.
