An Oregon woman has been charged with murder after the death of one woman and injury of 35 others when a car ploughed into a crowd on a Las Vegas sidewalk.

After a beauty pageant finished on Monday night (local time), a woman who had a toddler in the car was seen driving her car through a crowd of pedestrians.

Lakeisha Nicole Holloway, 24, has been accused of intentionally ploughing her car through the crowd, and has been charged with murder, child abuse and hit-and-run.

Police say she had her three-year-old daughter in the car with her. The child wasn't hurt and is now in custody of child protective services, ABC News reports.

A police drug-recognition expert said it appeared she wasn't drunk but may have been under the influence of a stimulant.

Holloway will appear in court on Wednesday (local time). One of her public defence attorneys, Joseph Abood, says she plans to plead not guilty, according to ABC News.
