A leopard has been tranquilised after it entered a school in India, attacking several people.

The young feline entered a south-east Bengaluru elite school on Sunday (local time) and was tranquillized after a 14-hour long operation, the Times of India reports.

Security at Vibgyor High, Kundalahalli spotted the leopard entering the school around 4am.

Later that morning special personnel entered the school, armed with dart guns and tranquillizers.

The leopard, which is believed to be wild, took guards and forest officials on a cat-and-mouse chase through and around the school, where it attacked one person who was trying to scale a wall in an attempt to escape it.

A number of others were attacked during the process.
