Rockets fired by Islamic State killed one soldier and wounded another in Iraq, says the Turkish military.

The army was fighting the Iraqi Kurdish peshmerga when the rockets landed in a northern base where Turkish troops were deployed.

Turkey's army released a statement on its website saying: "Islamic State targets identified in the region have been shot back at," in retaliation to the attack.

The statement added the wounded soldier was transferred to a hospital in Turkey's southeastern province of Sirnak.
