A man charged over plans to conduct a terrorist attack in Sydney was known to authorities

The 18-year-old was arrested yesterday morning, amid allegations he was planning a lone-wolf attack.

He's also had his passport cancelled after trying to flee to Syria earlier this year, to fight alongside Islamic State militants.

Federal Attorney General George Brandis says it's another major breakthrough.

"The fact that there have been nine successful interventions in all cases assisted by intelligence and security, will also give the Australian people confidence our agencies have the resources and capabilities to keep Australians safe."
