Police dog Geraldine has been given burial honours in the Philippines for her service to the force.

The German Shepherd served under the K-9 unit of the PNP Regional Public Safety Battalion in the Philippines city of Butuan.

Police officers held the funeral in honour of her exceptional work, including her ability to find explosives.

She died after getting tetanus and a tick-borne disease.

Geraldine's handler Nino Bianan praised his partner, saying she was instrumental in their job.

Her body was wrapped with the Philippines flag before she was buried at the police compound.
