A Christian organisation in the US state of Kentucky has built a life size recreation of Noah's Ark.
The ministry, Answers in Genesis, claim that the ark will stand as proof that the stories of the bible are true. Given that parts of Kentucky are often affected by major flooding the ministry's ark may yet get that chance.
The 155 metre mostly wooden structure was previewed to thousands of supporters and media and Answers in Genesis president Ken Ham, an ex-pat Australian, says he expects it to draw huge crowds from around the world.
Ham believes the earth is only 6000 years old and that dinosaurs co-existed with humans. There are even some replica dinosaurs in his ark.
It took six years to build the ark as the construction was beset with funding difficulties. The Ark was completed only after $92 million of local bonds was issued to help.
The project has been described by some tax-payers in Kentucky as a for-profit enterprise built using non-profit funding.
