Zoo animals enjoy frozen treats in Rome

As temperatures in Rome soar to nearly 40degC, the occupants of the city's zoo have been indulging in some icy treats.

Buckets of fruit icicles were given to the bears, lemurs and chimps to help their bodies cool off in the warm weather.

But the fruity feast wasn't so appealing to the zoo's tigers, who tucked into meatsicles instead.

Keepers at Rome's Bioparc zoo often hand out the frozen treats during the scorching summer months.
