Court ruling gives Corbyn the edge

About 130,000 new members of the UK Labour Party will be allowed to vote in the party's upcoming leadership election, giving incumbent Jeremy Corbyn a boost.

Tens of thousands of people have joined the party this year under Mr Corbyn's leadership, but its national executive team had tried to restrict the upcoming vote to only those who joined before January 12.

But the High Court has ruled in Mr Corbyn's favour, with pundits saying it all but ensures his victory over challenger Owen Smith.
