Italian coastguard performs CPR on kitten

A little kitten almost met its furr-tune after taking to the seven seas off the coast of Sicily, surely using eight of its nine lives.

A group of children spotted the one-month-old kitten floating in the ocean, looking as still as the Mediterranean water in which it floated.

An Italian coastguard worker dived in to save the feline, Reuters reported, and proceeded to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on its tiny lips.

He blew into its mouth and massaged its chest, whispering "breathe, breathe" and "wake up" in Italian. The kitten then awoke with a "meow".

The kitten has since made a full recovery. Port authorities decided to adopt the kitten and have named it Charlie.
