Shots fired at LAX - reports

(Reuters / file)

Several terminals at the Los Angeles International Airport were evacuated after reports of shots being fired.

Local police are continuing to investigate but say there is no evidence of a shooting.

NBC anchor Lester Holt was arriving at LAX when he says people began pouring out of terminal 4 and onto the tarmac.

"Security said 'shots fired. Run!'," he says.

Some people have since been allowed back into the building, but say they have to be re-screened by security.

Earlier this month there were reports of an active shooter at the JFK Airport in New York, which also turned out to be false.
