Southern China thrashed by Typoon Nida

Parts of China are being thrashed by storms bringing more than 200-millimetres of rain, with flash flooding being triggered as well as landslides.

In southern China's Guizhou Province houses have collapsed. The damage was inflicted by Typhoon Nida. It hit southern China on Tuesday (local time) and disrupted several highways.

China national highway 320 in Yunnan province was cut off by landslides. Twenty-six people were trapped there but have since been rescued, local media reports.

The dire situation has prompted warnings from local authorities for residents to take extra care.
